Instructions for students to create and access their NYC DOE Accounts has previously been emailed to students but this page provides a further overview.
The Department of Education has issued these accounts for students to access TeachHub which provide access to applications and a new student email ending in "@nycstudents.net". This email account can be accessed through https://teachhub.schools.nyc or https://www.gmail.com.
The new "@nycstudents.net" email account is tied to a Google account and it will be used in the fall and beyond for students to access Google Classroom, Drive and Gmail.
The Department of Education has recommended that schools transition over to these student email accounts and phase out any existing email accounts (i.e. "@veritas.nyc" accounts) because they provide secure access to multiple applications and the same login credentials provide access to report cards and other information.

Your Student Account ID and Password
To retrieve your account ID and password:
- Go to Student Account Self Service(Open external link)
- Enter your 9-digit Student ID (OSIS) number. (You can find your Student ID number on a report card, your student ID card, or in your NYCSA account.)
- Enter your birthday.
- Click Continue.
- If the information you enter matches your student record, your username will be displayed.
- Your student ID is your username followed by @nycstudents.net. For example, if your username is JaneD, your student account ID is [email protected].
- If you haven't already set up a password, you will be asked to set one up.
- Pick a password that only you will know.
- Re-enter your password.
- Click Update Password.
Visit TeachHub
Use your DOE account to sign into TeachHub which provides provides quick links to:
- G Suite, Microsoft O365, and Zoom (using secure central accounts)
- Student report cards (available in the Student Documents icon)
- Multiple educational applications
Access Student Gmail Accounts
Students using their DOE accounts will have access to Gmail. They cannot access Outlook email, although their account will get them into other O365 tools like Teams and OneNote.
Here are the directions for any DOE student to sign into their DOE central Gmail account:
- Activate DOE student account using instructions above
- Sign in to TeachHub (for more information see the TeachHub page)
- In TeachHub, go to K-12 tab -> Productivity and Collaboration section
- Click on Gmail icon (bright green "G")
- That is it, you have access to Gmail!
Visiting gmail.com directly may also get students direct access to their new student email account.
